Paid Holiday

So this situation is happening right now where I work. Personally I think the guy has awesome timing and is either an ingenious planner or just fortunate. He put his two weeks in before Christmas but I didn't even think about it till I got back to work. I was far too busy playing with my new niece. FYI she is as close to perfect as you can be without being me. (That's my Favorite DBZ quote of all time. But in all seriousness she is awesome.)

Before you guys even mention it I am aware that I missed an update last Tuesday. No excuses on my part for that it should have been done. I was drawing it on my iPad while I was traveling to Boston, and was planning on finishing it on Monday when I got back. Unforgivably my Sleepiness Gene overpowered my Awesomeness Gene causing me to lose consciousness around 6 o'clock. I'm not going to put it the archives because it was a vector drawing and in color. It was also just a sight gag that only works before Christmas. There were just to many things about it that didn't fit the comic. Once I set up my deviant art page you will be able to find it there. I'm going to do my best to keep that kind of filler art out of the comic archives and on the deviant art pages. While they might be fun to look at once they are not what you come here for. However my chronic laziness and procrastination might have them crop up from time to time until I can replace them with a proper comic.

On a side note if you look very closely I think this is the first comic without huge swings in the characters appearance and hair. Hell they are all even the same size for once. So at least the art work is improving. And by improving I mean achieving a dependable standard of bleh that doesn't make you want to poke your eye out. Any comments or feedback will have to be directed to my email because I just haven't poked my code monkey enough to get the comments box working. You can always reach me at Fairbane@gmail.com or Fairbane@Fairbane.com

P.S. check back on Friday for the update of Well Adjusted. I was promised by the author that it will be worth my time and will contain my own characters as well as his. So Bam! First piece of fan art! You all saw it, it counts, even if he is my website minion.

Talk to you guys again on Tuesday!

Christmas Cards

I have been getting a lot of these at work over the past week. Expecialy with people with babies. Someday I will hand out a card of my own with me playing xbox, hugging my tv, and coddling a bottle of beer. So that people will know how I plan to spend my holiday. I think what holds me back is my lack of a santa hat and the fact that it costs money to have those things printed. Proving a point is one thing but spending money to prove one is compleatly different.

Im heading back to Boston this evening for christmas, but dont worry there will be a fresh comic up on Thursday for your viewing pleasure.

on the art style: Fairbane is pretty much set now face wise. I'm going to be tweeking her body a little more as I go but you should be able to pick her out of a crowd now. Valrico's Face is also taking shape but its not quite where I want it yet. And his body is still a mess. Majin is done styleisticly wise. Now i just need to keep refining him to make him crisper and cleaner. not in the litteral sence as he is a damn dirty ape. but line wise.
ok thats it for now I will talk to you on Thursday.

Potluck

Am I wrong to think that potlucks are one of the worst thing about working in an office? I can barley cook for myself and now I have to help feed a million people. Plus its not like I can just make more of what I usually eat. Then my coworkers would think I’m some kind of horrible hobgoblin that just shovels whatever it can find in its face to keep from dying, with no regard to what constitutes a proper meal.  Plus its not like I even have the equipment to cook for a large group. A year after I moved into my current place I discovered that my refrigerator was too big and it actually stopped the oven from being able to open. A full year after I moved in.

Anyway todays comic turned out pretty well. Still playing around with the art some but the characters are all taking shape.

Also you all now have an excuse to come to the website 5 days a week now.  You can still enjoy new comics from the wildly unpopular Fairbane, on Tuesdays and Thursdays that wont change. And you can read the even less popular Well Adjusted on Mondays and Fridays if the lazy ass can update on time. But now you can even come back on Wednesdays as we are launching Non Refundable. A more light hearted standalone strip. This one is more of a group effort. Art styles and tones might change week to week because you never know who will be updating it. But you do know that it’s going to get updated. This week’s selection was written by our websites code monkey and illustrated by me. As you can see both need some work but we are getting better at it.

Talk to you guys again on Tuesday.

Wack-A-Mole

I am super unhappy with how this turned out. especially since it was the second time I drew it. My trial version of photoshop expired 3 days ago but as long as i didn't close it out I could seemingly use it indefinitely. That is of course till my computer decided that it hated me. or rather that it loved microsoft updates more than it loved me. I am hitting the keys extra hard as I type this to teach it a lesson. Anyway I redrew it in autodesk in under an hour because i am sleepy and didn't want to take forever. I skipped all my usual steps and just whent strait to inking.

Now I know what your thinking. why didnt you have a copy of it to open in autodesk to finish? Well the short answer is I did and the long answer is the free version of autodesk cant read photoshop files. So there. Whats that? why am I a cheap ass and haven't bought the real photoshop yet. well i was debating if i wanted to get illistrater bundled with it. so i was riding out the trial.

Anyway I wasnt really too happy with the story on this one either. It seemed funnier in my head. and it it really should have been told in just 5 panels rather than 6 but i will be damned if i draw this 3 times. All and all not the high point of the comic but eh I will take it. Well I'm off to bed I will be back on Thursday with more hot two dimensional black and white action.

Of course if you cant seem to wait till Thursday why don't you stop by tomorrow for a mid week snack to tide you over. I wont tell you what it is but one of the dormant navigation buttons on the top is going live. and unlike just about everything else on the site it doesn't completely revolve around me. well not completely.

Dear Victorian England,

You can find the article about the Toast sandwich here:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-15752918

I do like how an entire article devoted to toast, bread, and being cheap leads off with the phrase ...unveiled by scientists... apparently its cheaper than one of my favorite mainstays Ramen noodles. In this current economic climate I would be remiss if i didn't try it out. Of course being lucky enough to be born in a time period without the scourge of polio I cheated and slathered it in Nutella. That perked it up a bit. I'm sure in my place any good English man would have done the same. Not Aussies though they would ruin it with disgusting marmite. Get a grip Australia just because you live real close to the worlds fanciest birds the penguins doesn't mean your allowed to run around acting the fool.

Art update:
You might notice a few more changes stylistically from last week or really from any week since the beginning. This is one of those rare times that i didn't do it on purpose. There has be some gripping from my webmaster about the file size. The dimensions on this bad boy are dramatically reduced and so is the pixel density. honestly it was like drawing in sand. Everything was super grainy. It didn't really save much room. So I might go back to the old template for Tuesday. Regardless Tuesday will be another 6 panel comic. So don't panic that this one was shorter. I plan on having varying sizes every once and a while.

OK no more rambling I will talk to you guys on Tuesday.

Bad Moju Voodoo

The Last story arc was much shorter than the first one. Just two comics. This one is a stand alone comic. But don't worry long form story telling is going to return. But not till next week. Tomorrow will also be a one shot comic. It is going to be about something I read in the BBC. That's right people. I'm bringing current events into this. Well current events pertaining to something that happened back in the Victorian era, but at least written about currently.

A couple of house cleaning items that are on my mind.

1) Fairbane's Hair is still in flux but starting to settle down.
2) Color is coming just not right now. maybe in a little bit.
3) You might have noticed that there are a few new tabs on the top. Non-refundable is going to be a series of collaborated comics. but they wont start to appear until early next year. While Well adjusted is a comic being done by acquaintance of mine. Its about insurance and superheros and what not. He doesn't read this of course so as far as he is concerned I am promoting the hell out of it. Read it if you like. it would help me of course as i need better page views per visit.

See you on Thursday.

One Month

Its been a whole month since I started this comic. Not exactly a milestone but eh good enough. I'm still enjoying it and people are still not reading it so I think that I will continue to produce them. Its the law of supply and demand right? If I demand Readers the internet is bound to supply them right? I don't have an economics degree for nothing people, I know a thing or two.

Anyway I tried some new things with the art again today. The result? Fair has a pony tail again is now grotesquely skinny and Valrico has a pedo-smile. Two of these errors will be corrected in the next update on Tuesday. I'm not going to tell you witch but keep in mind Valrico wont be in the next one.

Oh and in case you haven't picked it up yet Valrico is the dude. Its been ten comics in and the only character that has been referenced by name in the comic is Fairbane. So to recap Fairbane is the girl, Valrico the dude and Majin is the monkey. These 3 are going to make up the back bone of the cast so get used to it. because they are not going away.

On a side note my acquaintance has launched his own comic on a portion of my site that i saw fit to allow him. Its called Well adjusted and is about a superhero turned insurance claims adjuster. There have been promises of hi-jinx. Of course as a test to see if he even reads this blog, which by the way is the only source promoting him at the moment I would like to go on record as saying that he is about as useful as Aquaman int he hunt for Poncho Villa. Shall i get a response who knows. Maybe when the hi-jinx ensue. See you all on Tuesday!
